What Are Injectables?

BOTOX® Cosmetic, Dysport®, and Xeomin® are all injectable neuromodulators, which means that they can temporarily alter nerve impulses of targeted muscles, reducing contraction-induced wrinkles. Each of the three brands has a slightly different formulation of the same substance, namely Botulinum Toxin A. They all work the same way by temporarily blocking the nerve impulses of injected muscles to reduce muscle movements that cause wrinkles. By reducing the intensity and frequency of contraction-induced wrinkles, these treatments help to prevent the formation of future deep lines, making them a favorite anti-aging treatment.

BOTOX® Cosmetic, Dysport®, and Xeomin® have been shown to be safe for all skin types and skin colors. During your treatment, a very fine needle is placed into each target muscle for a few seconds. You may experience some temporary slight redness, bruising, or swelling at the injection. There is minimal downtime and most can resume daily activities immediately after treatment. Timeframes and results may vary from patient to patient.

You should begin to see smoother, more wrinkle-free skin within two or three days after treatment, but the full effects will start appearing in about two weeks and may take up to a month to peak. Most clients notice their skin feeling smoother and lifted, with a more youthful appearance. Results usually last up to three months, then the muscle movement gradually returns, and the wrinkles and lines start appearing again. They should not be as severe though, because the muscles have been trained to relax more. Timeframes and results may vary from patient to patient.

For best results, you may need a touch up every three months, depending on how your skin responds to the treatment. Intervals between treatments may increase over time because the muscles become more relaxed and need less maintenance.

Lower Face Rejuvenation
